Presenting at the Greenbush Conference at PSU
This last week our CAPS Teacher Ed classes had the honor of hosting
and presenting our own session at Greenbush Conference at Pittsburg State University.
Many days and weeks of work and research went into creating
our elaborate presentation. I myself had a slide over learning outside the classroom
(meaning outdoor classes, field trips, and technology), and spent multiple days
researching. I would gather research and write it into a short blurb, and as I
researched more and more over the following days I built on the information that
I learned about the benefit and application of learning outside the classroom.
I then spent time revising my notes/information, and slide format, many times
until I was satisfied with what I had. When we divided up the slides to present,
I was given an additional slide and spent two days learning and memorizing the
information to present on that slide; I wanted to be fully knowledgeable and
prepared to present at Pittstate.
Our time at PSU and the conference was amazing. Everyone was
very nice to our group, and even though we are still just high school students
they were interested and valued our opinions and what we had to share. Our
actual presentation ran smoothly and I believe went very, very well. There were
no major (or even minor) hiccups as everyone knew what they were presenting
well, transitions were smooth, our technology worked, and the audience was
engaged! Even though we didn’t have as many people attend our session as we
expected, it was still a MAJOR success because our class got experience
presenting and interacting with a professional audience in the education field.
The class presentation was well done! -Dad
